Jake lives in NJ and is owned by Sharlene Teitel.  Jake was rescued from a shelter in Florida.  Jake is Sharlene's pride and joy and is now treated like a king.  This is Jake's story:

I’ve been neglected and abandoned. My paw is cut and bleeding. I’m hungry.

I’ve been wandering, but no one notices me. I see a lady playing with her small dog. Lucky little guy. Maybe if I turn on the charm and show my paw, she’ll give me some food. It’s working; she’s sees me. Food and water finally. And something cool on my paw. She stays and pets me until a car arrives and takes me away.

Now I ‘m in a big cage surrounded by other dogs in cages. I’ve had a bath, food and poked with needles. They say I’m a young yellow lab. I feel so tired. And I think of that nice lady. Where am I?

The next morning I finally see the nice lady coming to my cage. She takes me into her car. Once again I’m brought to a place with more large cages . At least this one is cool. Good food and a playground. My friend comes to visit often, but I‘m returned to my cage. Where am I?

On one particular visit my friend brings another lady. This new lady takes me into the play area by herself. She pets me and hugs me. She brought toys, bones and my very own blankie. I lay down and she brushes me. She has long dark hair. She seems special. I hear the two ladies talk. The special lady came from a place far away just to meet me. They speak of heartworm, and growing stronger. I don’t understand. Again, I’m returned to my cage.

My friend returns. This time she puts me in a small cage…a kennel ….and in the car. We come to a place that has big roaring birds. She’s saying goodbye to me and I’m put into one of the big birds. It’s scary. Where am I?

I finally arrive in a strange place when I see the lady with the long dark hair waiting for me. She takes me out of my kennel, hugging me. She has a really nice car, where I can walk around.

Now I have a large house. My own private yard with trees, flowers, squirrels and lots of toys. I also have my own comfy chair . So many treats. But best of all, I sleep at night in a big bed with lots of pillows snuggled as close as I can to my most favorite lady of all. Where am I? I’M HOME! My name is Jake.
