Jody belongs to Amy Jimenez's Mom, Sherry and this portrait was a Christmas 1999 gift. My mother had wanted a beagle since she was a child, but was never able to get one for one reason or another. She always knew this beagle would be a girl named Jody. Finally, in January of 1998, while she was going through a very sad and stressful period in her life, she decided that she'd had enough sadness. It was time for a puppy! We kept a look out for new litters of beagles in the local papers and finally saw a litter that was available from a husband and wife couple who owned both the dam and sire. That was very important to my mother. She wanted to be able to take a good look at both puppy parents. I went with her to look at the puppies. There were nine of the cutest tri-color and lemon colored beagle pups ever! Jody found mom immediately. When my mom picked her up, Jody snuggled into her arms, looked up at her face, and let out a big, sleepy yawn. Then she went to sleep in my mother's arms. That did it...she had found Jody.
Jody is the light of my mother's life. She is a sweet, albeit a little spoiled, pup. Incidentally, I
didn't make it out of the breeders' house alone...I took home Jody's sister! Phoebe and Jody lived the
first year and a half of their lives together, until I moved out here to Southern California. They miss each
other, I'm sure, but they'll always remember the fun they had chasing the squirrels in mom's backyard in
Texas. | |||||
